Day 10 - Design a Pet!

SQUEAL! I had to wait 10 days to post this. McTacky's glorious masterpiece of Pikachu insipred me to get arty.

What model would your pet have, where would it come from and what abilities would it have?

She might come from a special Sanrio/WoW promotion! How amazing would that be!

Kitty Kick - Kicks the enemy, dealing 255 Beast damage.

An Apple a Day - Heals Hello Kitty for half of her maximum health.

Sail Boat - Hello Kitty takes her opponent on a sail boat ride. Both active pets are unusable for 4 rounds.

Apology Note - You send an apology note to your opponent weakening their attacks. Lasts 3 rounds.

I Heart HK - When an enemy pet heals itself 50% of the healing is shared with Hello Kitty - Lasts 2 Rounds.

Roll The Dice - Changes one of your active enemies abilities to any of it's 6 abilities for the duration of the battle.

Day 9 - What Is Your Favourite Pet Ability?

My favourite ability would have to be Ion Cannon. Why? Because it's shiny. So very shiny.
This poor little Clefthoof Runt had no idea what was coming his way.
If you could have a pet with your favourite abilities, what would they be?

I'd move Supercharge to a different slot. I want Supercharge AND Ion Cannon. Why? Because it's shiny AND painful. Would I ever need to do that much damage? Nope.

Day 8 - What Is The Stupidest Thing(s) You Have Ever Done In A Pet Battle?

I am no stranger to doing stupid things. In and out of game. I've done some stupid things I assume everyone has done at some point;

Starting battles with half dead pets.

Starting battles with the wrong pets.

This battle wouldn't be very fun. Even Aki might feel bad for me.

Accidentally killing a pet while trying to get it low enough to trap. (Where was my trusty Turnip?)

Somehow auto-shooting pets on my hunter while looking for rares.

Poor dead Arcane Eye :(

Hopefully I don't do anything really stupid like killing the Qiraji Guardling when she is available!

Day 7 - Do You Use Mods?

10 Days of Pet Battles topic from The Daily Frostwolf - Druid Edition

Part of the reason I didn't enjoy pet battles in the beginning was that I didn't have any addons dedicated to pet battling. I didn't feel the standard UI was giving me enough information or options that I felt should be available.

It shows the location of every battle pet on the map! Not just wild pets either. You can toggle it on and off or to display only the pets you are missing or need to upgrade.
PetTracker - Displays each spawn point for wild pets.
PetTracker - Shows the location of rare drop pets.
The search and filter options on PetJournalEnhanced probably make it the one pet battle addon I cannot live without. You can set the filter so you never have to see those pets that aren't available to your region.

PetJournalEnhanced

PetBattleTeams
PetBattleTeams
I love this addon. Scrolling through the pet journal wasn't fun even if I had nothing else to do while flying between tamers. It saves the abilities you use for each team so you aren't having to change them each time. Teams can be locked to prevent accidental changes.

If you could only have one pet mod, what would it be and why?

If I had to chose just one it would have to be PetJournalEnhanced.
While all of the others are super helpful this addon has the most useful functions for me. Quality and breed information as well as every filtering options I need. Luckily I don't need to give any up!

Day 5 - Most Coveted Pet

10 Days of Pet Battles topic from The Daily Frostwolf - Druid Edition

Obviously there are pets I really want that I will never own. Mini Tyrael, Panda Cub, Mini Diablo, Zergling, other CE and Blizzcon pets. I try not to think about those though!

For the longest time I really wanted an Ethereal Soul-Trader more than any other pet. I was very excited upon finding a VERY cheap one as I was doing my daily AH check on my multitude of servers one day.

After the Soul-Trader, the next pet I really want is the Spectral Tiger Cub. I've been saving up gold to buy one on a high pop server but when I managed to reach my goal it was gone and the next ones have been more than I am willing to pay for them.

Maybe one day.
It's not out of my reach entirely but right now it's just with those pets I know I may never have just like there are achievements I know I will never obtain. I am ok with it... for now!

Day 4 - Most Epic Pet Battles

I spent a long time looking for a rare Devouring Maggot. So many hours that I was sure I wasn't going to find one. I was about ready to give up (although I think I am perpetually ready to give up but I can't!) when I finally found one. It was a secondary to Fjord Wolf Pup. I defeated the first two pets and got the maggot low enough to trap with Tina Turnip. I went to capture it when my cat jumped on to my keyboard! OH GOD! WHAT HAS HE PRESSED!?! I was scared! I moved him away and looked at my screen. OMG LUCKY! Apparently the first key his fat foot pressed was #1, Weakening Blow. PHEW! I would have been so sad if he killed it!

Would I really have been sad to lose this?

My cat has actually won a few tamer battles for me by jumping on to the keyboard. He might want his own account or for me to stop playing.

Day 3 - Who Is Your Favourite Pet?

Reading over my original response to this topic... Oh, how the mighty have fallen. Fluxfire Feline, Emperor Crab, Anubisath Idol and Arcane Eye were my most used and favourites at the time! I was a sad Luxy when they nerfed Fluxypie.

It's even harder to choose a favourite now. Aside from Fluxfire Feline, I still use Emperor Crab, Anubisath Idol and Arcane Eye as staples in many of my tamer teams.

If you could bring it out into the real world, tell me what you imagine you would be doing.

In this post My Top 10 Favourite Companion Pets, I managed to get it down to 10 but it really wasn't easy and I can't imagine bringing any of these in to the real world many would have disastrous consequences.

So I choose my White Kitten!

White Kitten grown up and in the real world!
So what do I imagine we would be doing? Cuddling no doubt! <3

Day 2 - What Pets Don't You Like and Why?

10 Days of Pet Battles topic from The Daily Frostwolf - Druid Edition.

Rats, maggots, snakes and frogs. They have such boring skins and little to no variation in their abilities. I would have said beetles and cockroaches but I can excuse those vile little creatures because they have Apocalypse.

The one pet I dislike the most is Crawling Claw. Not in the traditional pet battling sense and not just because of the ridiculous amount of Archeology I had to do to get it but because mine seems to be cursed. It cannot win a game of 'Rock, paper, scissors'. In fact I think I want to set up a Crawling Claw tourny just to see if it is just mine! Surely someone else has to be as unlucky as me and who would be the winner in that match up?!

I've named him 'Never Win'

Day 1 - My First Day of Pet Battling

10 Days of Pet Battles topic from The Daily Frostwolf - Druid Edition.

I can sort of cheat a bit. I replied to Navimie when she originally posted these. I am a little late... but Navi isn't done yet so I might just finish this race before her!

I didn't love it. Yup, I did not love pet battles. I was 90 when I finally decided it was time to stop ignoring those little green paws. I started with my Azure Whelpling (Mindy) in Stormwind and ran around leveling for a little while. I wasn't impressed with the limited information on the standard UI and I felt guilty that I wasn't doing something more productive with my game time.

While updating addons a few days later I found some that looked quite handy for pet battling. I installed them and went to have another shot between BG queues (turns out pet battling between queues doesn't work out very well, I missed a lot of queues!) I could see quality and the location of every pet on the map. I still wasn't hooked but I had always been a pet collector so I knew I had to work on it for every pet and achievement.

I really started to enjoy it when I began the tamer quests, it added something else aside from running around looking for rares (which we all know is tedious at the best of times). I made sure I did my dailies/heroics before I ventured off to find pets each day. My first rare was a Fawn caught in Elwynn Forest and I realised I couldn't stop until I had every rare.

I don't even want to think about how things would be now if I had decided I didn't want to pet battle after the first day!
